The impulse to create this piece was a rush of emotions obscured by tears; however, this series is about hope. The same hope that millions of people harbor as they are forced to leave their country. Some flee violence, war, hunger, or extreme poverty. Some do not feel safe because of their sexual or gender orientation or move due to the consequences of climate change or other natural disasters. Sadly, after risking their lives to cross the sea on rickety boats or walk across a scorching desert, they most often reach places where they still feel far from welcome. I hope we will soon create a better future.
